| Do I need to have a fundraising agreement with WIN House? |
WIN House requires that Special Event Fundraisers complete and sign an agreement with WIN House. |

| What if I want a tax receipt? |
| |
| For a tax receipt to be issued, two important requirements must be met: |
| |
1) The donation must be considered a gift.
|
| |
What is a gift? |
| |
| At law, a gift is a voluntary transfer of property without valuable consideration and must satisfy all three conditions: |
- Property such as cash or a gift in kind is transferred by a donor to a registered charity.
|
- The property is given voluntarily without obligation or court order.
|
- The donor is not expecting any benefit in return. No benefit may be provided to the donor.

2) Payment must be received in the following manner: |

- Cheques or money orders must be made payable to Edmonton Women's Shelter Ltd. or WIN House.

Or, |
| |
- For cash collected and forwarded to WIN House, a record indicating donor names, addresses and amounts donated must be attached.

| A registered charity is not required to issue a tax receipt unless they are reasonably satisfied that Canada Revenue Agency rules allow them to do so. |

| Can I use the WIN House logo? |
| |
| Use of the WIN House logo and name in all promotional material and activities must be approved by WIN House. This includes, but is not limited to: articles, posters/flyers, advertisements and media releases. |

| The umbrella symbol and WIN House are registered trademarks of Edmonton Women's Shelter Ltd. and the standards and termination of use are determined by EWS Ltd. |

| How do I get started in planning a Special Event Fundraiser for WIN House? |
| |
| After reviewing the previous information please complete a preliminary Special Event Fundraising Form with details of your event and either e-mail to ewsmrktg@telusplanet.net or fax (780) 479-8252. |

| Once received, our Marketing and Resource Development Coordinator will review and contact you shortly. |
