All three WIN House shelters continue to be operational during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are doing all we can to ensure the health and safety of our clients, their children and our staff by adhering to government directives and health measures provided by Alberta Health Services.
Deemed an essential service by the government, WIN House will continue to accept women and children fleeing gender-based violence as best as we can. This includes providing our clients and their kids the necessities they need once they arrive in shelter and throughout their stay; good food to help sustain them, a warm bed to rest in, a toy to play with, and a plethora of programs and services designed to help them figure out their next steps.
We are only able to provide any of this because of you – our donors, supporters, and the champions of our common purpose to help Women In Need. And now, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working to prepare for the day when we start running out of the very items that make WIN House the organization it is.
Below are a few examples of what the WIN House COVID-19 Relief Fund and your cash donation will help provide over the foreseeable future. It is not an exhaustive list, as we are learning daily of new needs that arise. For now, we hope it provides you with some context as to what we need today and what we are preparing to need tomorrow.
- Medical Supplies
- Transportation Costs
- WIN House Staffing
- Operational Costs
- Additional COVID-19 Related Costs
We know that with the continued support of our amazing donors and supporters, the Edmonton community, our volunteers and enduring staff, we CAN continue to be there when we are needed to provide safe shelter and hope to so many women and children who need our help. Collectively, we are all champions of the common purpose of helping Women In Need fleeing gender-based abuse. We have never and can never do it alone. Together we will get through this…virus or no virus.
From our (WIN) house to your house, thank you.
