No one should be forgotten over the holidays.
Join Global News for this year’s Give Me Shelter campaign to help make the holidays a bit brighter for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Each year, thousands of women and children flee domestic violence to find shelter at one of Alberta’s women’s shelters. Many women leave quickly with their children taking nothing more than the clothes on their backs in a desperate attempt to get away. Having somewhere safe to stay is vital to these families.
Give Me Shelter was started in 2004 by Global Edmonton’s Lynda Steele in support of the 5 Edmonton area women’s shelters. The campaign raises basic needs like clothing and toiletries as well as Christmas gifts to five women’s shelters: WIN House, WINGS, A Safe Place, La Salle, and Lurana Shelter. The shelters assist women and children who are escaping domestic violence.
From Thursday, November 24th until Monday, December 19th you can drop off new and unwrapped gifts of new clothing, toys and toiletries to Global Edmonton (5325 Allard Way).
Thank you for your support.
